Quincy, Florida 03-19-10

Once a year, our church has a father-son campout for a weekend and this year we went to camp Wallwood, a boy scout camp outside of Quincy (west of Tallahassee).
It's rustic and there are hiking trails, shooting range, lake, and just about any activity you can conjure up for camping.
We decided to pitch our tent in Camp Oconee.
It didn't take Papa and his two sons very long to get our tent up.
Nothing like sitting around a fire and chating with friends to pass the afternoon away.
I don't think there has ever been a fire that kids weren't attracted to!
I caught the sun going down over Lake Talquin in the woods behind our tent.
Saturday morning, the boys decided to take the grandsons canoeing out on the lake.
This will be fun boy.....get in.
Yes....three people can fit in a conoe, young man.
All aboard.....time to launch the canoes.
Heading out into open waters.
Maybe a little too close for comfort.
Mike has his sons across the lake.
Rick has his son across the lake, also.
Mike and his boys headed back toward the dock.
Rick stirs up an egret paddling close to shore.
Mike is getting his boys back, fighting a nasty wind.
Rick is having a little more difficulty, getting sideways against the wind.
Mike finally gets his boys in.
Not too much later, Rick gets his son back.
Everything packed up, it's time for Papa, Rick, Neil, Little Mike, Dillan and Big Mike to head for home.

Crawfordville, Florida 03-13-10

On Saturday afternoon, we had the pleasure of attending the wedding of Billy Bull and Stephanie Brown in Crawfordville (a little south of Tallahassee).
The wedding was outdoors and it was very windy.  At one point, the person marrying them had to catch the trellis as it was being blown down.
The final "I do's" were being exchanged with their rings.
With a kiss, they are man and wife...and a guy I have known since he was 4 or 5 and have played softball with for at least 15 years is married.

Tallahassee, Florida 03-10/12-10

I decided to pick up Savannah Lee this afternoon and take her to an FSU baseball game.
Not too fashionable, but Papa's hat doesn't look too bad on her.
I think she was a little more interested in drinking than watching the game.
Of course, at her age, it's more fun to explore and figure out how those seats go up and down than to follow the game.
A little face-time with G-ma.
Probably about time to take her home.
Two nights later, we took Neil to another FSU baseball game and he decided to try on my hat too.
As usual with the grandchildren, G-ma is the center of attraction!

Jacksonville, Florida 03-08-10

Lynda and I went to Jacksonville for the FSU v Jacksonville University baseball game.
We drove over the Arlington Expressway bridge to get to the stadium.
The JU players work the grounds prior to the start of the game.
The players ground crew has about got the field ready for play.
FSU players doing some stretching on the sidelines.
Getting ready to run some wind sprints to loosen up.
Hey coach, we think we've had about enough!
Coach Mike Martin meets with the umpires and the opposing coach.
Tyler Holt (or Tyler "Hot" as a couple of our grand-daughters refer to him) at bat in the first inning.
Both pitchers were throwing no-hitters in the middle of the game.  Mike McGee was especially throwing well.
McGee pitched 6 innings of no-hit ball before being relieved in the 7th inning.
It's late in the game and a no-hitter is still on the line for the Noles.
Gilmartin up to bat in the late innings of the game.
JU finally got a hit in the top of the 9th, but FSU prevailed 2-0 with a 1 hitter.
With a victory in hand, it was time for the 2nd ranked Noles to pack up and head back to Tallahassee.

Tallahassee, Florida 02-26-10

We attended a primary talent show at church which Lynda was in charge of.  Ryan and Savannah Lee are playing on the floor.
Little Mike is getting ready to explain about his trophy and medals from Nationals last year.
Savannah Lee is getting some attention from her dad, Rick.
Now, it's Lori's turn.
Ms. Hannah is in the house (inside joke).
Melina is doing a gymnastic routine with a friend.
That's gotta hurt!
Little Mike, Neil and Dillan are watching their sisters perform.
Auburn and two friends are dancing to a current music hit.
Auburn even choreographed the dance!
Emily plays a tune on the piano.
Mike is hanging back with the "guys".
A group photo of the participants of the talent show.
It don't get any better than spending time with the grandchildren.
