Tampa, Florida 06-06-10

Lynda and I were able to get tickets to see the Carole King and James Taylor concert in Tampa.

They played in the round with a revolving stage.

Just a couple of 60s flower children reliving their past.

The band they played with was the same as when they first toured together in 1971.

They both accompained each other on all the songs.

After all these years (I saw them in concert in West Palm Beach in 1971) they still sound the same.

Carole occasionally got out from behind her piano and took center stage.

Here, they've just come back from a 15 minute intermission.  They played every big hit by both of them.

JT on the big screen above the stage.

A close up of Carole on the big screen.

I swear, JT sounds just the same as he did in his youth.

Rocking out on a song that Carole wrote.

The band embraces after the concert.

Carole and James taking a curtain call....

and coming back up for an encore.

They leave the stage after more than two and a half hours of playing together.  One of the best concers I have ever seen.

It's time for "Miss Hannah's School of Dance" annual recital and Hannah is making introductions.

Hannah and some of her teachers start the show with a tap routine to "Jive Bunny and the Master Mixers".

Auburn shows off some nifty moves.

Maybe "Chorus Line" is next for her?

Auburn's Jazz class finishing their number, "I Want it All".

Emily on stage with her ballet class.

She really does know what to do!

Dances like her mother!

Emily's class just finishing up "Coppelia".

Emily on stage again.

Emily's Jazz class finishing "We Rock".

For the finale, all the dance teachers perform an ensamble.

It combined aspects of several different types of dance.

Hannah and her sister, Meghan wait their turn to perform.

During the number, Lewis, the hip hop teacher at the studio performs.

He had all the moves down.

As it turned out, he about stole the number.

All the teachers on stage at the finish of "Empire State of Mind".

Everyone takes a final bow.

Dillan give his mother flowers.

Emily and Little Mike also present flowers to the teachers.

C'mon, Lewis, guys don't get flowers!

And at the end of 5 different shows, Mike, manger of the studio, has clean-up duty.

Melina is ready to mount the balance beam at her annual gymnastics performance.

Perhaps she's been watching too much Karate Kid for training purposes?

A little help from her coach.

And a perfect dismount.

Getting ready for her floor routine.

I'd be in the emergency room if I tried this manuver.

Melina gets approval from her coach at the end of the floor routine.

Now it's off to the eneven bars.

And time to do a flip.

And another pose after a dismount.

I think Lori knows that I caught Rick ready to head back home.

Melina receives her medal.

"Rosie" shows off her medal with her "twin", Emily.

We went to our grand-daughter's piano recital.  This is Emily, playing a duet with their teacher, Sara.
Here, Emily is playing solo.

Melina is performing one of her solo pieces.

Melina and Auburn play a duet.

Auburn solo's.

I can't even imagine playing a cross-handed piece!

Sara, the girls' piano teacher performs for the audience.

Sara and the girls after the recital.

Auburn, Emily and Melina...glad to have the recital over with.

Rick, Lori, Auburn, Melina, Neil and Savannah Lee.

Mike, Hannah, Emily, Little Mike, Dillan and Ryan.

And of course...G-ma wouldn't miss a recital.
